Overview:

As the Executive Director of Production, you will play a key role to manage and oversee the operational aspects of the Production slate. This position focuses on efficient workflow, financial and resource management, and on-time delivery of high-quality projects across multiple platforms. In this leadership role, you would work closely with the production team and other key stakeholders to maintain operational excellence, meet financial targets, and resolve any production challenges quickly and effectively.Β 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day production operations, ensuring that all projects run smoothly, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Production Planning & Strategy: Collaborate with the Head of Production to align production schedules with the company’s broader goals and business strategy. Ensure effective coordination across departments.
  • Budget & Resource Allocation: Work with the Head of Production to create and manage production budgets, ensuring optimal use of resources and controlling production costs. Work alongside the line producer and production accountant to manage full cost reporting to networks.Β 
  • Bidding and Budget Planning: Work with the Line Producer to build potential packages for new sales and protect comfortable sales targets for new initiatives.
  • Physical Production Buildout: Assist in the full build-out of physical production scaling within the company to expand resources for full internal capabilities in Unscripted Documentary formats.
  • Vendor and Client Relationships: Manage key relationships with external production partners, vendors, and clients, ensuring clear communication and execution of contracts and deliverables.
  • Problem-Solving & Risk Management: Proactively address and resolve production issues, managing crises as they arise while minimizing delays or budget overruns.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all productions adhere to industry regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements.
  • Post-Production Collaboration: Coordinate with the expanding post-production team to ensure timely and quality delivery of finished content, meeting creative and technical specifications.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement best practices, process improvements, and tools to streamline workflows and improve the overall efficiency of the production process.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide regular status updates on production progress, challenges, and outcomes to the Head of Production, ensuring smooth communication across teams.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in production management, with a proven background as a Line Producer, Executive in Charge of Production (EIC), or a similar senior role.
  • Extensive experience managing Unscripted documentary formats in a freelance role or small production company
  • Solid understanding of all phases of production, from pre-production and shooting to post-production and delivery.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Financial literacy and experience managing large production budgets.
  • Proficiency in production management tools, software (such as scheduling and budgeting tools), and workflows.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on fostering collaboration between departments.

Salary Range: $215,000 to $260,000 based on experience
