We are seeking a Tax Operations Assistant.
Our tax administrative team is an integral part of our 120+ person strong tax department and provides support to that department and its clients. How You Will Contribute:

Provide leadership and guidance to the tax return processing team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently. The team’s key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating client tax return deliveries, with 90% delivered electronically
- Preparing, tracking, and conducting quality checks on engagement letters
- Scanning and archiving physical client documents while securely storing originals
- Formatting and distributing client notice responses, third-party authorizations, and power of attorney forms
- Drafting and finalizing paper extensions
- Developing and implementing processes to reduce the workload of tax professionals.
- Streamline the preparation process by introducing administrative support tools and systems to begin organizing tax returns before they reach the preparers, ensuring smoother workflows and greater efficiency.
- Support the implementation of new administrative processes and software systems.
- Have sufficient knowledge of tax returns and related software to effectively reprint returns that encounter issues with the electronic delivery system.
- Facilitate client onboarding by coordinating requests and reviewing prior year tax returns for relevant information.
- Proactively contribute to process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency.
- Manage administrative team schedules and support deadline-driven activities while also assisting in the team's key responsibilities.
About YOU!
- The ideal candidate has experience in tax preparation but is seeking a role with less intense busy season demands, allowing them to continue utilizing their expertise in a new capacity.
- A solid, inherent aptitude for technology is essential.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., GoFileRoom, GoSystem, SafeSend, Sureprep)
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- While overtime and some Saturdays are required during peak seasons, it is concentrated at the deadlines.
- Willingness to be in our Deerfield and Chicago office on a daily basis is required.
