New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) to improve healthcare by collaboratively leading, connecting, and integrating health information exchange across the State.

Founded in 2006 by healthcare leaders, NYeC works to help New York State achieve the Triple Aim of improving the patient experience of care, delivering better health outcomes, and reducing costs. On behalf of the State, NYeC leads the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY), a network connecting healthcare providers statewide, develops policies and standards that support the utilization of health technologies, assists healthcare providers in adopting and effectively using electronic health records, and ensures that the SHIN-NY provides services to support the State’s public health and Medicaid efforts.

Position Summary:

NYeC is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Manager of Accounting Operations to join our team and collaborate with the Head of Operations & Project Management. The selected financial professional will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the day-to-day financial workflows that are essential to our business and the overall financial health of our organization, while being responsible for the financial and accounting activities. This role will provide analytical, financial reporting, and perform other related responsibilities to support NYeC’s financial decision making. The person hired into this role is expected to independently function at a high level of technical and analytical proficiency, effectively using Excel, financial systems and other tools to meet business needs.

 

The ideal candidate will have previous fiscal experience in a state and/or federal grant funded environment, as well as    operations, contracting, and strategy expertise. Experience in the healthcare sector a plus.

 

This position will be operated out of the Albany, NY office location.

 

Supervises:

  • Up to 2 Reports

Primary Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with NYeC internal control policies, review and approve all payment requests, purchase requests, purchase orders, journal entries, and other materials and ensure funds are aligned to approved budgets and financial strategy;
  • Maintain the General Ledger, balance sheet and all financial records as part of the daily accounting functions;
  • Provide direction to the Accounts Payable Manager and Finance Associate;
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements;
  • Approve and monitor financial aspects of contractual agreements and monitor contractors for compliance with regulatory and other requirements;
  • Manage cash flow, create cash flow projections and forecasting;
  • Prepare financial reports and materials for the CEO, Senior Leaders and Board of Directors for presentations to the finance and audit committees of the Board;
  • Support the leadership team with any financial problem solving;
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors to facilitate annual audit and required filings;
  • Provide financial analysis, prepare finance reporting, and meet other ad hoc requests by creating, enhancing, or maintaining report files, models, and templates;
  • Responsible for capital planning utilizing historical financial analysis, forecasting, strategic goal and modeling in collaboration with Head of Business Operations & Project Management;
  • Prepare, update, maintain, and distribute monthly financial and operational reports, coordinating with other staff across the organization;
  • In collaboration with the Head of Business Operations & Project Management develop the annual budget;
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating fiscal policies, procedures, controls and SOPs;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial data integrity and consistency;
  • Work to transform and upgrade current processes and systems as needed;
  • Perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations;
  • Gather requirements and data from various sources, working with others to populate relevant information for analyses and assumptions;
  • Provide technical financial expertise to support various users, including use of Excel;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field;
  • CPA preferred; 10+ years of relevant and progressively responsible experience, to include diversified experience in accounting;
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Excel, including building financial models and using advanced Excel functions (complex formulas, pivots, macros, etc.);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Management and supervisory experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work timely with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision;
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar accounting software required;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products including Microsoft SharePoint required;
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting fundamentals;
  • Ability to distill complexity down into its most salient elements to communicate with senior executives, managers, and staff as needed and;
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.

 

Expectations of Employees:

  • NYeC supports the healthcare sector, and we expect every employee to be vaccinated in accordance with NYeC’s policy before beginning employment with NYeC and present proof prior to their start date, unless they have requested and been granted an exemption or accommodation (based on disability/medical condition or a sincerely held religious belief).
  • Employees work a hybrid in-office schedule in Albany, NY office and then remotely. Barring specific exemptions, team members are expected to work from the office on a regular schedule determined by the COO and on other days specified by their manager (no less than 1 day per week in the office). This schedule is subject to change.
  • NYeC supports work happening across New York State. From time to time our team members must visit other parts of the state. The most common requirement is for travel between our New York City and Albany offices. The individual hired should expect to travel to NYC regularly (at least 15% of the time) and as needed.

 

We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience, qualifications, and home office location (Albany, NY). The annual base salary range for this role for an Albany, NY based candidate is $115,000 to $130,000. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, NYeC will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with NYeC.
