Job Description Summary
This position provides a wide variety of technical and instructional support to students, faculty, and staff requiring specialized knowledge of the college and division’s operating procedures, system administration, and information systems. This position serves as a VMware administrator; responsibilities include configuration, design, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the overall VMware and NetLab environments.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Provide technical support for the Virtual Machines (VM) in the VMware vSphere/ESXi environments including template creation, virtual machine deployments. Develop scripts to support virtual machine schedules, template creations, back-ups and other activities.
- Research, evaluate and make recommendations toward continuous improvements for virtual machine and NetLab performance. Design and maintain a VM/NetLab Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) listing.
- Serve as a contact for instructors and students who are experiencing issues with virtual machines, including troubleshooting, problem resolution, and reporting of virtual machine issues.
- Serve as liaison between IT instructional team and IT support on issues that may affect either group including upgrades, load balancing, disk usage and the appropriate loading of courses within the IT instructional VM/Net Labs environment.
- Serves as the primary contact for installations and troubleshooting for hardware, software, network and multi-media problems for the IT team.
- Coordinates materials for new program development, certificates and program modifications; assists program faculty and division staff in preparation of required state approval forms.
- Coordinates class scheduling and student program plans with Dean, Associate Deans, Department Chairs and staff by entering and maintaining credit and noncredit class information and class section data into the college database system (Workday) verifying information accuracy for access via MyFVTC.
- Creates and monitors reports utilizing Workday to include Missing Grades, Class/Course Errors, Unknown Instructors, Zero Enrollments, etc. Responsible for accuracy and data integrity of division information and meeting state guidelines and reporting timelines.
- Prepares instructor schedules and verifies accuracy of instructor workload hours. Updates Faculty Workload Report in the State reporting database.
- Establishes and maintains accurate room schedules in the database, division master files and room postings. Functions as liaison with master scheduler, other division personnel.
- Maintains master textbook list for division courses. Prepares and submits textbook requisitions to the Campus Bookstore in accordance with timelines. Monitors ongoing changes and updates textbook information in database. Serves as liaison with Campus Bookstore and instructors.
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Enters contract instructional hours and additional pay hours on class sections.
- Generates and distributes Adjunct Faculty Teaching Assignments (AFTA) for non-contract instructional hours and adjunct faculty. Provides assistance to division instructors regarding payroll questions.
- Updates hours on class sections and processes changes to Payroll.
- Serves as liaison with Payroll and Certification Officer and functions as resource person for Time & Labor System issues and questions.
- Make appropriate referrals to non-IT FVTC resources in order to meet the educational needs and information requests of internal and external customers.
- Assist with registration questions for students on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Information Technology or related area, AND
- Two to three years related work experience, to include experience with Virtual Machine technology, hardware and networking, OR
- An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
- Advanced skills in Windows and Microsoft environments, computer hardware, and equipment repair and maintenance.

Work Environment
- Work must be completed in person; however, some virtual flexibility may be an option based on access to technology and manager discretion.
Work environment may change based upon college needs.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting: This role requires extended periods of sitting while performing tasks and utilizing computer systems.
- Mobility: While much of the work is desk-based, occasional mobility may be necessary for attending meetings, office tours, or events within the workplace.
- Lifting and Carrying: The role requires occasional/continuous lifting and carrying of light to moderate items (generally 25lbs or less).
- Repetitive Motions: Capacity to perform repetitive motions, such as typing, without discomfort or injury.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, candidates, and stakeholders, both in-person and through electronic means.

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $27.47 per hour.
Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation guidelines.
