Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: We are currently seeking aΒ Resident Training Instructor to be a front-line key member of the training team, responsible for providing training direction and safety coaching to a fleet of long-haul drivers with the goal of reducing overall risk.

Work is accomplished in tandem with members of our driving Fleet and other leadership in the Safety department, collaboratively focusing on all safety (preventable accidents, citizen complaints, hard braking events, tickets, etc.) and compliance matters regarding specific drivers.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying unsafe and at-risk driving behavior of drivers with wide ranging experience over the road
  • Conducting regular driver safety training sessions, including defensive driving techniques and hazard recognition
  • Administering skills-based testing to drivers who have shown readiness
  • Working with other safety personnel responsible for deciding which drivers need additional re-training
  • Promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization
  • Responding to questions regarding policies, procedures, best practices, FMCSR/CSA interpretations, etc.
  • Regular and ad-hoc reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a current CDL and good driving record.
  • In-depth working knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations - FMCSA, DOT
  • Proven record of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations
  • High degree of initiative, independent execution, and capable of thriving as a team player but also driven by autonomy
  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to perform in an environment with ambiguous situations, rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of experience working in transportation, motor carrier experience, and/or experience with DOT
