Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy to secure quality materials and services at optimal cost. Analyze market trends, identify opportunities for cost savings, and ensure timely delivery of materials for residential construction projects.
Vendor and Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with vendors and suppliers to ensure consistent quality, reliability, and competitive pricing. Evaluate supplier performance regularly and address issues proactively to maintain a robust supply chain.
Contract Negotiation and Compliance: Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve favorable outcomes for the company. Ensure all agreements comply with legal and regulatory requirements and align with the company’s risk management strategies.
Inventory and Logistics Oversight: Manage inventory levels to support project timelines while minimizing waste and holding costs. Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate delivery schedules and optimize logistics for efficiency.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Work closely with project managers and finance teams to establish and manage procurement budgets. Monitor expenditures, identify cost overruns, and implement corrective actions to maintain financial discipline.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing purchasing team. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the department.
Process Improvement: Assess and refine procurement processes to enhance efficiency, transparency, and alignment with business goals. Leverage technology and best practices to streamline operations and improve reporting.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to align purchasing activities with project requirements and timelines. Act as a key point of contact to address procurement-related challenges and ensure smooth project execution.
Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure the company’s purchasing activities align with industry standards, ethical practices, and environmental sustainability goals.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, construction management preferred but not required
8+ years of purchasing experience in residential or commercial construction markets
In-depth knowledge of residential or commercial construction materials, suppliers, and market trends.
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven track record of cost savings and process improvement initiatives.
Ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
