The Full Time Contract Instructor Crewmaster (CICM) reports directly to the MCAS Miramar Contract Instructor Site Manager or his designated representative.

The CICM's specific job responsibilities are directly in line with the KC-130J Crewmaster flight simulation and classroom training.  

  • The instruction includes but not limited to:

                            - Aircraft systems

                            - Operating procedures

                            - Crew procedures

                            - Aircraft maintenance procedures

                            - Aircraft passenger and cargo loading/offloading procedures

                            - Aircraft aerial deliver rigging procedures; tactics (e.g. Night Vision devices) and threat systems

                            - Fleet Replacement Crewmaster syllabi of the KC-130J and to include briefs and debrief of the training events. 

  • Assist in teaching, updating and maintenance of related curriculum syllabi and other tasks as designated by the KC-130J CIP Lead or the Site Manager. 
  • Requires mental alertness and acute concentration for long periods of time during training scenarios.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, and/or sit for extended periods of time (4 hours+), be able to climb 2 flights of stairs, to climb open grated ladders for cockpit access, to lift and carry 50 pounds is required.    
  • Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Applicant must have been a NATOPS qualified Crewmaster Level 1 or equivalent of the KC-130J Aircraft within the preceding 5 years or have been a simulator instructor within the preceding 5 years for the KC-130J.  
  • Applicant must have a minimum of 1 fleet tour and 1,500 flying hours in the KC-130J Aircraft. 
  • A CICM CI must successfully complete the NATOPS Open Book, Closed Book, and boldface exams and annually renew qualifications with the scheduling authority.  
  • An CICM must take an annual check/standardization (STAN) flight in the KC_130J simulators and in a classroom environment while providing academic instruction.  
  • In addition the CICM shall complete annual training requirements in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program in order to facilitate required training on actual aircraft in a non-flying status.  
  • A CICM shall understand and demonstrate knowledge of:

                         - KC-130J mission

                         - Crew procedures

                         - Aircraft maintenance procedures

                         - Aircraft passenger and cargo loading/offloading procedures

                         - Aircraft aerial deliver rigging procedures

                         - Tactics (e.g. Night Vision devices) and threat systems

                         - Fleet Replacement Crewmaster syllabi of the KC-130J. 

  • The applicant must be a US citizen, possess the ability to obtain a US passport and must have and maintain a valid driver's license.  
  • Applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to receive and maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance for access to classified information
