As we scale beyond 75 employees, we are seeking a Director of People to lead our HR strategy and operations, ensuring our people and culture remain at the heart of our success.


Position Summary

The Director of People will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources, including compliance, talent management, learning and development, payroll, and employee engagement. This role requires a strategic thinker who can also execute tactically, balancing high-level planning with hands-on work. The ideal candidate has experience in scaling HR functions within a growing organization and is comfortable working independently while collaborating with leadership to drive results.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement scalable HR strategies aligned with Contango IT's growth trajectory.
  • Partner with senior leadership to create a people-first culture that supports business objectives.
  • Build frameworks for long-term workforce planning and organizational design.


Talent Acquisition & Management

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract top talent.
  • Manage performance review processes and succession planning to ensure career growth opportunities for employees.
  • Partner with service delivery team to manage outsourcing relationships with BPO providers


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Regularly review and update company policies to reflect best practices and legal requirements.


Learning & Development (L&D)

  • Design and implement training programs that enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and career development.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning across all levels of the organization.


Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Oversee payroll processes (outsourced) to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Evaluate current benefits offerings and recommend enhancements to remain competitive in the market.


Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Drive initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, satisfaction, and morale.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for employees, providing guidance on workplace issues while maintaining confidentiality.


HR Operations & Scalability

  • Establish processes and systems to support growth beyond 150 employees while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for outsourcing administrative tasks while retaining strategic oversight.


Acquisition Integration Planning

  • Lead the people-related aspects of integration planning for future acquisitions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure smooth cultural integration and alignment of HR practices during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to assess and mitigate people-related risks in potential acquisitions.


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role (Director or Senior Manager level).
  • Proven track record of scaling HR functions in organizations with 75+ employees; experience in companies exceeding 150 employees is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in compliance, payroll, benefits administration, L&D program design, and employee relations.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with HR technology systems; familiarity with outsourced solutions is a plus.


Additional Details:

  • **Travel Requirements:** Travel to the office may be required (to be discussed based on candidate location).
  • **Reporting Structure:** Reports directly to senior leadership; potential for building out an HR team as the company grows further.
