Description

PURPOSE:   As a member of the Opera’s Management Team, this position is responsible for all Company-wide information systems including designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure and systems, with a strong focus on cloud platforms and cyber security. This person will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the network and cloud environments while collaborating closely with the Leadership Team to support the Opera’s business applications, helpdesk operations,  network infrastructure, telecommunications systems and directing day-to-day information systems operations effectively and efficiently.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages a comprehensive strategic information systems plan reflecting the Company’s mission, values, and strategic business plans.
  • Manages and hires (as needed) competent staff members and continually motivates staff in order to provide excellent customer service across the Company.
  • Maintains the organization’s awareness of developments in information technology; directs the acquisition and implementation of new equipment and new software for the formulation of both long-term and short-term plans to meet business needs.
  • Develops and recommends a fiscally sound department budget based on department goals and organizational needs.
  • Monitors and manages departmental expenditures, continuously seeking opportunities to reduce or eliminate unnecessary expenditures and find cost-effective ways to do business.
  • Reports regularly to Audit Committee on information systems plans and cyber security systems.
  • Develops and presents project roadmap and associated operating and capital budgets to CFO.
  • Develops departmental and organizational policies and procedures and data security standards.
  • Establishes and oversees daily operations of all business systems, and regularly evaluates and monitors systems applications for effectiveness and future viability.
  • Directs the overall maintenance and use of all information technology systems, including network equipment, cloud-based servers, telecommunications equipment, user computers and peripherals.
  • Directs all technical and change management efforts leading to the implementation of software applications and hardware implementations.
  • Directs and manages all changes to current and future hardware and software usage.
  • Develops and manages an information systems disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
  • Manage projects across departments and reports status to management.
  • Consistently and successfully manages relationships with third party vendors.

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides organizational leadership and works together with other members of Staff to model exemplary behavior both within and outside the organization.
  • Promotes and encourages professional development for staff members within departmental budgetary parameters. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field from an accredited college or university highly desired.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum five years of progressive professional experience managing or directing an information systems environment that includes desktop support, helpdesk and network operations, software application and data management. 
  • Experience leading a team in a budget conscious environment.
  • Experience establishing and enforcing information security and technology governance practices, processes and controls
  • Experience managing an information systems environment across multiple physical sites, with private cloud (Azure) systems and a portfolio of cloud business applications.
  • Experience with cyber training and simulated phishing platforms such as KnowBe4 a plus.

 

PREREQUISITE SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong IS generalist skills are necessary including but not limited to desktop support, helpdesk operations, network management and cybersecurity.
  • Hands-on knowledge of the Microsoft technology stack, including device management, Microsoft 365, Defender and Azure.
  • Ability to direct Managed Services vendor in support of Company operations.
  • Ability to prioritize the needs of a complex organization.
  • Track record in leading strategic initiatives and providing outstanding business results.
  • Strong program and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to define strategy and lead organizations from vision to implementation.
  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder.
  • Proven ability to build, mentor and inspire a team of two IS professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams to work toward a common goal.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
