SUMMARY:
Demonstrate Christ-like behavior and attitude in all job duties and responsibilities. The Director of Accounting reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and year-end financial statements. The Director of Accounting is responsible for the maintenance of its fiscal records. Assists in the preparation of the organization’s budget and its monitoring including grants and projects. The Director of Accounting oversees the accounting functions in accordance with the current laws and regulations.
Perform under limited supervision a wide variety of financial tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan, direct and coordinate the day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger entries.
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and delivery of all regular and ad hoc management reports to drive effective decision making by management
- Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with company policies and GAAP principles.
- Assist in the establishment and implementation of short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
- Assist in the development of processes with internal and external groups that will improve the flow of financial information within LAM.
- Lead the monthly closing, financial reporting, and analysis
- Oversee project and grants funding including donations
- Approve month-end closing journal entries prepared by Budget/Grants Accountant and Sr Accountant
- Prepare weekly cashflow projections for management
- Coordinate activities of external auditors
- Ensure compliance with organization’s policies and procedures to mitigate risk
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Assist the CFO in the management, development and forecast of budgets
- Report budget variances to management and prepare budget adjustments/transfers
- Ensure budget adjustments/transfers are recorded and tracked to provide accurate financial reports
- Responsible for management, performance management, coaching and development of staff.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff
- Perform special projects as assigned by Executive Leadership Team
