DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: AIDS/LifeCycle is a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride between San Francisco and Los Angeles that raises funds for the Center as well as event partner San Francisco AIDS Foundation. The event raises more than $17 million annually through peer-to-peer fundraising, sponsorships, and other methods of fundraising. Our mission is to promote health, wellness, and social justice for communities most impacted by HIV through sexual health and substance use services, advocacy, and partnership.

JOB SUMMARY: The Director, ALC Partnership Development’s focus is to build and maintain our existing partnership program that includes Ride sponsorship (cash and in-kind), as well as Community Partner support for AIDS/LifeCycle. This role is responsible for executing and maintaining our current partnership program, positing AIDS/LifeCycle, prospecting, retaining, and stewarding Ride-wide and regional partners for AIDS/LifeCycle, and managing partnership agreements, activations, and benefits throughout the lifecycle of all partners. This position will work closely with the Ride Director, production staff, Community Engagement team, as well as in partnership with the Director of Sponsorship at the LA LGBT Center and the VP of Philanthropy at SFAF.

This role will end with the conclusion of AIDS/LifeCycle. The final date of employment for this role is planned for 7/1/25 but may be extended or adjusted as necessary. 

% of Role    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

70%    Partnership Development

    Develop and execute a partnership strategy encompassing sponsorships, in-kind giving, and community partnerships.

    Identify and steward relationships with potential and existing corporate and community partners to meet the annual corporate giving goal.

    Collaborate with the Production Director to identify partnership activation opportunities and in-kind needs, ensuring program consistency.

    Engage with partners through phone calls, social media, in-person meetings, emails, and other communication methods to maintain relationships.

    Write, manage, and track partnership agreements, including the creation and delivery of annual impact reports.

25%    Cross-Team Collaboration

    Partner with Development teams at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center to align on partnership goals and strategies.

    Support internal teams by coordinating efforts and ensuring integration of partner needs across organizational initiatives.

    Work with the Marketing team to ensure the fulfillment of digital and marketing-related partner benefits.

5%    Event Support

    Provide staffing support for AIDS/LifeCycle, including pre- and post-event production responsibilities.

    During the AIDS/LifeCycle event, take on additional duties such as volunteer supervision, safety monitoring, vendor relations, and sales oversight as needed.

    Proactively identify and connect with potential partners, including initiating cold calls to build relationships.

    Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of relevance to LGBTQ people.

    A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.

    Minimum 7 years’ experience in business development, partnerships and/or peer to peer team development. 

    Experience navigating and selling to all levels of corporations.

    Ability to identify, connect, and steward relationships that bring value to the AIDS/LifeCycle community.

    Demonstrated ability to fulfill AIDS/LifeCycle’s professional expectations of accountability, active collaboration, ethics, commitment, communication, diversity, and professionalism.

    Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, and to work independently with self-directed high-level sense of urgency.

    Ability to adapt to changes in work duties, work schedule and organizational structure, identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, and work with others to solve complex problems.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical.

    Ability to travel locally and regionally up to 50% and willingness to work nights, weekends and non-traditional hours as needed.

    Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting to 30 lbs.

    Access to reliable transportation, a valid CA Driver License, and the ability to be insured.

    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Direct experience with AIDS/LifeCycle.

    Previous experience in non-profit partnership and/or sporting event development.
