Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
The Government Affairs Department of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority advocates for effective policies and increased resources at the federal, state, and local levels and facilitates local policy and systems change efforts to reduce and end homelessness in Los Angeles County. Additionally, the Government Affairs Department has distinct responsibilities that impact LAHSA’s leadership in overall homeless coordination and planning across the Los Angeles Region in the areas of: intergovernmental affairs, policy strategy and development, legislative activities and stakeholder engagement across various groups, regions, and organizations. Under the leadership of the Director of Government Affairs, the Associate Director of Legislative Affairs & Policy will be responsible for managing governmental affairs and legislative and policy priorities of the agency.
